Radio Flyer Scooter
A Radio flyer scooter is a fun mode of transportation for children. A great alternative to tricycles and bikes, they provide younger children with a beginning skateboard experience while giving them handle bars to hang on to. The Radio Flyer scooter I bought my son for his 4th birthday was the best investment I ever made.
I remember the day my son was first introduced to a Radio Flyer scooter, it was a bright fall day and I had taken him to the park to enjoy the last of the good weather before winter set in. He was playing on the swings when a couple of young boys came by on scooters. My son watched in fascination as the two boys rode back and forth. Seeing his interest, one of the boys offered him a ride. One ride was all it took and my son was hooked. All he talked about was wanting a scooter of his own.
Thinking to put my son off until he was older, I told him if he still wanted a scooter when he turned 4, I would buy him one. As his 4th birthday approached my son reminded me that I promised him his own Radio Flyer scooter. He had not forgotten or lost interest and was as determined as ever to have his scooter.
Determined to keep my promise I began shopping around for a suitable scooter for a four year old. There were plenty of brands to choose from but most seemed ill made and to this over protective mother, somewhat dangerous. So, remembering the Radio Flyer scooters the young boys had been riding I decided to see what kind of scooter I could find.
Having owned a Radio Flyer wagon as a child, I remembered how long it had lasted my brothers and sisters and myself, so I was not surprised to find that the scooters made by this company were just as sturdy and well made. What did surprise me however, was the adjustable handle bars. The screw that held the handlebar in place at the level chosen was extremely heavy duty which meant that it would not break, but hold the height of the handlebar in place. This was an important safety feature for me.
To make a long story short, my son loved his scooter and it became his favorite toy not just for a week or a few months but for the next three years. He rode it often and never seemed to tired of it.
As for me, it was the best investment I have ever made in a children's toy. That Radio Flyer scooter really took a beating and never once broke down. It gave my son over three years of enjoyment and then was passed down to a younger cousin.
No toy I have purchased either before or since lasted so long or brought such pleasure to my child. If your child enjoys the sense of flying down the sidewalk on a scooter and you are looking for one that is both safe and sturdy you might want to give the Radio Flyer scooter a try.
